The action that prompted the creation of this page is the announcement ofContent Protection for Recordable Media(CPRM) a new content-protection scheme being pitched at the hard disks that are the storage bedrock of most non-trivial computers these days. If this comes to pass, I hope that manufacturers have the sense to mark compliant drives, so consumers will know what not to buy.
