Wolfstone

New rumors: Wed, 26 Jan 2000

Wolfstone themselves make a much anticipated return in April with a dynamic new line-up including Duncan Chisholm on fiddle and Stuart Eaglesham on guitar and vocals. They are undertaking an extensive tour of Europe and Norh America with plans for a new LIVE album and video production.

The Eden Court [Inverness] gig is on 10th April, box office tel 01463 234234, e-mail: ecmail@cali.co.uk.,

Tickets are £10.50 (reduced rate £9) and are on sale now

The band broke up in 1996, and rumors are now that they are getting back together. No hard feelings or recriminations, just that they have been touring a LOT over the last 3-4 years, and it is really stressful. Duncan and Ivan are doing solo projects, I think, and the vast majority of the band is continuing to play together as The Vast Majority.

Driving bass guitar, the hottest electric fiddle you'll ever hear, and powerful bagpipes characterize this young band from Scotland. I have seen them live three times now, and would go again in an instant... they put on one of the best live shows you'll ever see. The first and third times have been at The Ark in Ann Arbor, and the second was at the Edinburgh International Festival (click here for my review of the latter performance). In my humble opinion, their recordings never quite match the energy of their live performances, but I noticed at the most recent performance, this month at the Ark, that they didn't need hardly any time to warm up, and seem to be maturing as a band, so I expect to see this reflected in future recordings.
